Ephesians 2:10: King James Version
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
How many of you have no clue where to seek work? How many of you are not satisfied where you currently work? How many of you are driven by salary only? What is your motivation to wake up everyday?
Over the many years of work I have held many jobs from a range of jobs to include my first job in college as a work study to being Director of Student Services to being an Executive Assistant and the list goes on and on for over 23 years. I only listed a few of the many positions I have held along the way.
Growing up I heard, go to college, graduate and you will get a good job. I really believed this to be so true; until the moment I graduated and I did not have a job lined up in my career field. There are many reasons for this. One is the fact that I wasn’t ready to move away from my family and pursue a career wherever it was available. After many applications and interviews I received a job at a well known insurance company in which I stayed there for over six years maintaining 3 different positions. As my spiritual life developed I became unfulfilled with my job and quit work abruptly…
This was not the most popular move to many; nonetheless I followed Yahweh’s leading anyhow. It was at this moment in my life I started a women’s ministry that turned into a monthly meeting; which produced conferences, retreats, speaking engagements, relationship discussions, a fashion show, lunch bible studies and individual counseling with women and marriages. This was one of the most fulfilled moments of my life after getting married to Mr. Williams. Needless to say when this season was up, it was time to go back to the corporate world. It was then I prayed to God for where He would have my presence next. I was exhausted with jobs and started seeking assignments.
It was in the assignment seeking that I found there was a purpose for every place Yahweh would have me visit for a season. Assignments create the following benefits:
- It has a purpose beyond you.
- Yahweh gives you the assignment and uses man/woman as the vessel to hire you.
- Yahweh chooses the salary.
- There is a shield of protection all around you while you work.
- Nothing happens that God does not allow for your good.
- He will get the glory for your works.
- The path is laid out; you just have to seek Him, trust Him and follow His leading!
- When the assignment is up, you can rest assured Yahweh has another door for you to enter.
Assignments create a sense of peace. Even in your weariest days, there is comfort in knowing you have been assigned by Yahweh to complete this work. All that you do; do it unto Yahweh and not man. Remember the foolish things will confine the wise. It is not supposed to make sense. My motto was/is “Trust The Process!” His will is to draw you closer to Him; so at the end of the day it is not about you. The moment you lay job down trying to fulfill your selfish desires; you will discover a peace in your next assignment.
Assignment is defined as a task that someone in authority has asked you to do. The word assignment is just the noun form of the common verb assign, which you use when you want to give someone a duty or a job. When you assign something, that something is called an assignment; according to vocabulary.com. It is Yahweh that assigns the assignment and you are to perform the work. He is the safest Boss to trust.
Every area of your life while you are on assignment is for His glory! Seek Him early in the morning for what He would have you do, who He would have you speak to, request a download of wisdom you will need to perform the job that day and what you are to retain from the task completed. Seeking Him early prepares you for the schemes and tricks of the enemy trying to take you out of character as He goes to Yahweh as an accuser on your behalf. Remember the scripture declares, no weapon formed against you shall prosper.
If you are unfulfilled with what you are doing; seek Yahweh for your next assignment. Trust Him with your life, trust Him with your finances, trust Him with your promotion, and trust Him to lead you to your next! If you want your desires, delight yourself in Him!
Seek an assignment and not just a job!
